6 Last Minute Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is almost here!

This holiday always tends to sneak up on me, and even though my mom says she loves everything I get for here, shopping for her can be a challenge! In my experience, anything with sentimental value is a safe bet.

If you’re still searching for the perfect gift for your mom/wife/grandmother/mother-in-law/godmother/great-grandma/whoever, keep reading and let’s see if we can help out! Imagine it and chances are, the Cushing team can help make this Mother’s Day marvelous.

1. Collection of your Childhood Work

You know those terrible poems and letters you were forced to write in grammar school? Your mom kept those – they are in a box in the basement, behind the holiday decorations. I wrote one about stuffing in kindergarten that hangs in my mom’s house (much to my disdain) every year at Thanksgiving. Ask your mom where she keeps her stash, read through them (it’s more fun to do with your siblings), and fight the urge to rip them into pieces. Scan or type them up, and we can turn these into a book for your mom to cherish as much as the tattered construction paper originals. Turn time: 2 business days.

2. Coffee Table Book

Like a photo album, but nicer. You might consider a theme for the book, like photos of mom/grandma from childhood to present or family history. Don’t get stuck on a theme, though: a book of photos of children, friends and family is always a hit – you know what your mom likes, so you be the judge and we’ll do the printing. Turn time: 2 business days.

3. Custom Calendar

I know it’s a little late in the year to buy a calendar, but the beauty of having one printed at Cushing is that it’s completely customizable. Start it in May and end whenever you want! Try including a family photo for each new month. I made one of these for Christmas and they loved it – they almost didn’t want to write on it…almost. Turn time: 2 business days.

4. Banner

I did this for my grandpa’s 80th birthday party and it was a huge hit. He mentions it at every family gathering, and it’s still hanging in his basement. A banner is a great decoration for a Mother’s Day celebration and we can print this on paper or a more rigid material, depending on how long you want it to last. Paper is probably the most cost-effective way for one-time use (but you know mom is holding onto this forever!). Cover it with family photos that only a mother could love. Turn time: 4 hours (Colorwave print) or standard 2 business days.

5. Recipe Book

My mom keeps her favorite recipes on scraps of paper and shoves them into a folder on the counter. This drives me insane! Let’s help mom get a little more organized. Type those recipes up for her and transform them into a book. Consider spiral bound – that way, if she’d like to add more recipes in the future (she will), we can print the new pages and rebind the book. Turn time: 2 business days.

6. Coupons

The Mother’s Day gift that keeps on giving. Print little cards that can be used as coupons. You know, “Good for one dinner on me” or “I promise to call you every day this week.” What does your mom lovingly nag you about? Give the woman what she wants! We’ll print the coupons but the follow-through is up to you. OK, guilt trip stopping now… Turn time: 2 business days.

This year go from mundane to magnificent! Sure, flowers are great but imagine the look on mom’s face when she sees how much thought you’ve put into her gift.

You design it and we’ll print it. If a proof is required for your project, the job will be completed in the number of business days stated after your proof has been approved. Turn times are subject to change based on the quantities ordered.

What was the best gift you’ve given (or received) for Mother’s Day? Tell us about it in the comments!
