Welcome to my world

In the world of digital social media explosions, some things that are old are new again.  How many times have you seen/heard/read something that you thought:  This is something that I wish (fill in the blank with a name) knew about?  When the world lacked the ability to share thoughts in a blink of space and time the best we could do was “make a mental note”.  Or, maybe the more orderly among us would actually make a paper note or a recorded note to jog his memory.  The connected among us would use their favorite device and make that note on the Internet.

The Internet DOES exist and platforms that allow someone to share that mental note are growing every day.    As someone who grew up in the printing industry, I am acutely aware that the need to use paper to communicate is changing rapidly.  As a business owner in Chicago I will never want to lose the ability to network in person with my world – staff, customers, vendors, neighbors – but it would be shortsighted not to stay present in those arenas where my voice can travel farther, and my company’s presence can be valued by a wider circle of participants.

If something crosses my desk or screen that gives me a reason to make a mental note, I will make that note here – if it lends itself to a quick comment I will post it on Twitter.  I hope that you will respond if so moved, and share your thoughts here as well through comments or feedback. I don’t believe that you are interested in my politics, travel plans or shopping habits and I will not be covering those topics in any form.   I AM interested in the future of construction document management, trends in digital versus print information in ALL markets, growth and opportunities in the use of large and small format graphics, changes in the use of signage in all its forms, tools to make the exchange of digital assets around the world seamless, the interaction between marketing and economic growth, the politics of financing economic growth, life in Chicago, and knitting.   And, of course, learning new things every day.  I’m looking forward to sharing this with you!
